Nicolette and Roger were a very fun couple! It was a gorgeous day, and Whitestone Country Inn made for a wonderful backdrop for their wedding day. The outdoor ceremony, followed by a carriage ride, and a very fun reception, plus a very playful couple, made this a very memorable day!

Ashley & Ben’s Wedding

Posted on June 14th, 2010 by Chris Hoopes under Chris, Clinton TN, Closing Shots, Leigh, News, Oak Ridge TN, Weddings.

Ashley and Ben

Ashley & Ben - June 5, 2010

It’s interesting to photograph some wedding. We’ve known Ashley and her family for at least 15 years. Our youngest daughter grew up with Ashley. They were in some of the same classes since elementary school, and went to brownies and girl scouts together. To have someone we’ve watched grow up and get married, it just takes us back.

Ashley and Ben's Wedding CeremonyAshley and Ben are very nice couple. We had fun with them at their engagement session, and their wedding day was absolutely beautiful! It was amazing to see the faith they both carried within themselves, as well as the love they have for each other. It is just really nice to see such devotion in both of them.  This carried on through their wonderful ceremony. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of their wedding.

Wedding Reception DecorationsTheir wedding planner did an incredible jog with the decorations. Each table had it’s own theme, taking in different likes, interests, life history, and moments together. Coupled with photographs of the two of them all over the place, you got a sense of who these two people are, and how they have grown together. It was a really nice way to include the two of them into the reception is a way where their guests could share the beginning of their lives together.

Marble Slab Ice CreamThat Saturday was a very hot, sunny day. It turned out to beautiful outside, but I’m glad most of the activities were all indoors. The great thing about it was Marble Slab Ice Cream was there. With several flavors and toppings, it was a very welcome treat. The line for ice cream went all the way around the reception hall. I don’t think the line ever slowed down throughout the entire reception! I can see this catching on more at summer weddings, like we saw with S’mores on cooler spring or autumn receptions. :)

Ashley & Ben @ UT ArboretumAfter the reception, we headed over to the UT Arboretum just outside of Oak Ridge. It was a little bit of a blessing as a quick rain shower passed through just before we arrived. So, it wasn’t as hot as it had been just a short while earlier, yet the humidity was now up. Even so, we were able to capture some really wonderful imagery of just the two of them. The photo at the top of this post was from there, as well as a few more in the slideshow below. Giving the two of them a little time to be together, and being able to be a part of that – it is something that Leigh and I love to experience. As Ashley & Ben walk off holding hands, it bring Leigh and myself to holding hands while we ride home.

Marble Slab at the Reception

Marble Slab Ice Cream
One of the neat things to see at Ashley & Ben’s wedding was Marble Slab Ice Cream bringing in their portable system. The line for ice cream went all the way around the reception hall. They had several flavors of ice cream, along with a nice selection of toppings to mix in.

With how hot this summer has been, I’m surprised I don’t see this show up more often! What a great idea as well! Below are some more images of Marble Slab’s setup. Read More

Sarah Beth & Andrew’s Wedding

Sarah Beth and Andrew and Willow Tree

Sarah & Andrew - January 30, 2010

Snowy winter days are rare here in East Tennessee. They are also unpredictable. January can be in the 60s, or absolutely freezing. For Sarah and Andrew’s wedding day, we were blessed with an absolutely beautiful, freezing, snowy winter day.

We has a lot of fun with their engagement session. We were hoping to play outdoors a little throughout the wedding day as well. The snow storm the night before did change our plans a little, but we still had a gorgeous day, and their wedding was absolutely beautiful!

One of the things we love to do, when couples are seeing each other before the ceremony, is make it special. We wanted this to be a memorable moment from their wedding day. So, we took advantage of the snowy day and took them (briefly) outdoors for their first moment together. The lightly falling snow, gorgeous bride, and snow-covered background made for a wonderful moment for the two of them!

The candle-lit ceremony was absolutely wonderful. Simple. Elegant. Everything just fit so well with the two of them.

Andrew is a pilot. He was flying off for their honeymoon together. It was fitting that their exit was through paper airplanes! Envelopes with folding directions were provided for all of the guests.

Before they left, we went around the country club and photographed a few more shots of them out in the snow. One of my favorites is the image at the top of this post.

Whitney & Chris’ Wedding

I just love Autumn. The fall colors around the Smoky Mountains are absolutely beautiful! Depending on the year, the colors can be out throughout most of October, and even into November, like it was for Whitney & Chris’ wedding out at Ridge Valley Farms. The day couldn’t have been better for their outdoor wedding down at the gazebo. Heather with Simplicity Event Planners put together a wonderful event for them!

Everything was just gorgeous. From the decorations, the entertainment, and the entire day was spectacular. We got to play with them a little bit after the ceremony, taking in the autumn colors as well as the beautiful scenery around Ridge Valley Farms.

It was a beautiful October day for Katherine & Scott’s wedding day at Whitestone Country Inn. They had a very elegant wedding ceremony in the chapel. They planned to meet before the wedding, so we set Scott up at the gazebo, with Katherine coming up from behind to meet him. After leaving them alone for a few minutes together, we took care of all the family formals before the ceremony.

They had probably one of the best receptions I’ve seen this summer. Boys Night Out got everyone up and dancing with their entertaining music. It was a real party! Check out the photos we posted on Facebook to see more!

Valerie & Richard’s Destination Wedding

Posted on October 9th, 2009 by Chris Hoopes under Chris, Couples, Destination Wedding, Leigh, Weddings.

Wedding Bands in the SandValerie & Richard's Destination WeddingValerie & Richard on the Beach

This was such a wonderful and intimate destination wedding! We started with Valerie & Richard the night before with a couples session all across Wilmington, NC, which was just a wonderful experience.

The following morning, we met back up with Valerie as she was getting ready for her wedding. I love the colorful wedding dress she chose, along with her unique wedding bouquet. Instead of holding a bouquet, her flowers flowed from her shoulder, all the way down her arm, then flowed almost all the way to the ground. The white flowers looked gorgeous across the dress!

The beach ceremony was wonderful. They couldn’t have asked for better weather. Everything felt intimate, loving, and full of joy. It was a real honor for us to be there!

Rachel & Jason

It was a real pleasure to meet Rachel and Jason. With the two of them both living outside of Tennessee, I started to get to know Rachel over the phone. She is such a friendly person, you can’t help but be her friend!

Jason’s family held the wedding on their riverfront property in Louisville, TN. The location made for some incredible imagery, and the day was absolutely beautiful wedding weather! They even released butterflies as part of their ceremony.

The intimate reception was held at the Air National Guard base in Alcoa. Check out their wedding images on Facebook – they had a wonderful time at the reception!
