Rebekah contacted us looking to have some couples photographs done with her husband. She told me they didn’t know what to expect, but wanted something romantic. They were a little nervous when we met, but got into the ession almost as soon as we started. :)

It’s not secret that romance photography is my favorite. Rebekah and Mark were the perfect couple to work with, They are so into each other, and their love for one another just comes out in every look they give each other. They were playful, romantic, and fun! Rebekah is absolutely stunning, and they both made my job easy.

Norris Dam State Park is absolutely beautiful for photography. The peaceful locations, historic architecture, and peaceful atmosphere help make it a great place for romantic imagery. It made for a perfect background for these two. It had rained just a short while before, and the fog across the river came up to add to the session. We couldn’t have asked for a better day, and I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple! :)

Lori & Eric’s Wedding Day

Posted on May 26th, 2011 by Chris Hoopes under Ceremonies, Chris, Closing Shots, Couples, Knoxville TN, Weddings.

Lori and Eric on their Wedding Day in Knoxville, TNLoru and Eric's wedding in Knoxville, TNSunset at Lori and Eric's wedding in Knoxville, TN

This was such a wonderful wedding day! Lori and Eric came in recently and booked us for their intimate wedding. As far as they were concerned, they would be happy to just elope. But Lori’s 8-year-old son wanted to walk her down the aisle, so they planned a small wedding here in Knoxville.

The day was perfect – a beautiful sunny day (and with all the storms we’ve had recently, there couldn’t have been a more beautiful day!), close friends, and a couple who you could tell were mad about each other. You can’t help but smile when looking at the two of them together.

They were quite playful throughout our time with them. Everything was done within just a couple of hours. Even so, they gave me plenty of time to go around the property. We finished just after sunset, and captured some incredible color in the sky. Check out our Facebook gallery for more photos of their wedding day!

Whitney & Grant

Whitney and Grant's Engagement SessionWhitney and Grant at Big South ForkWhitney and Grant at Blevins Farm in Big South Fork

Whitney and Grant are such a sweet couple. They booked us for their October wedding a couple of months ago. Since then, we’ve been planning on shooting their engagement session for about a month. Every day we get things scheduled was filled with rain. Each time, we would put it off for another week, again and again. Finally! A day without rain!

They chose to have their engagement session at Blevins Farm in Big South Fork. The location had a special meaning to them as this was where Grant proposed to Whitney. I love hearing stories like that, and when we can meet up somewhere that is meaningful to the couple, I’m all for it!

We had a lot of fun, and I got to live up to my two-wheeled photographer persona (gorgeous motorcycle ride up to Big South Fork). They brought their dog along, who ended up having more interest in the horses at the farm instead of being photographed. Check out the Facebook gallery for a few more photos with their dog (seems to be an engagement session theme lately. :) )

With all the rain we’ve been having recently, it was amazing that we had one day with gorgeous sunshine and warmth (it rained for days after, too)! We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day for their engagement session. They chose Meads Quarry over at Ijam’s Nature Center, which made for a wonderful backdrop. The two of them are a lot of fun and playful. It was a real pleasure to photograph the two of them (and their dogs!).  :)

Vivian & Larry

Posted on February 16th, 2011 by Chris Hoopes under Chris, Clinton TN, Couples, Portraits.

MusiciansLarry and Vivian Portrait SessionVivian and Larry downtown

Vivian contacted us to do a couples portrait session. They really wanted to do something outdoors, but with how cold the weather has been this winter, we decided to do a studio session with the possibility of heading outdoors for some additional photographs. Luckily, the weather cooperated and wasn’t too cold, especially for February!

The first time I met them was when they showed up for their session. Both are extremely friendly people, and so into each other. I love it when we have such playful people to photograph! Larry plays guitar, so he brought a couple of his for the session. Being a musician, myself, I really admire other musicians. Larry sat and played for a bit, which gave me a good chance to photograph him (using a spotlight effect) and listen to some wonderful music.

After the studio session, we headed downtown and took advantage of the wonderful ambiance of Main Street. From the train station, the antique shop, courtyard and other scenery, everywhere you turn is something new to add to their artistic imagery.

It was a fun session, and I enjoyed getting to know them. Check out more images from their session on our Facebook page.

Jenna & Joe’s Wedding

Posted on September 20th, 2010 by Chris Hoopes under Chris, Closing Shots, Couples, The Pavilion, Weddings.

Jenna & Joe's First MeetingJenna & Joe's Wedding CeremonyThe Kiss

This was one wedding Leigh and I were looking forward to for a while. We had fun with Jenna & Joe during their engagement session, and knew they were going to have a fun wedding!

The Pavilion made for a nice location for their wedding day. The weather was absolutely gorgeous as well! With how strange and quickly changing the weather has been this summer, it was nice to have such a beautiful day for their wedding.

They met before the ceremony. We arranged for them to meet at the bridge crossing over the small stream area. We placed Joe on one side, then had Jenna come up to meet him. As usual, we made him wait a tiny bit, knowing she was right there behind him. We left them alone for a few minutes afterwards. :)

The ceremony was very nice. They wrote their own vows. You could easily see how much in love they are with each other throughout the ceremony.

It is couples like Jenna and Joe that affirm to us that we are in the right profession. Being around so much love for one another just means the world to us. They were fun, playful, loving, and full of smiles the entire day!

Jenna & Joe’s Engagement Session

Posted on August 6th, 2010 by Chris Hoopes under Chris, Couples, Engagements, Trash the Dress, Two Rivers Pavillion.

Jenna and Joe's Engagement Session

Jenna & Joe

Jenna & Joe are such a fun and loving couple. They are so friendly, and their love for each other is such a joy to see! We photographed their engagement session at the Two Rivers Pavilion just outside of Louisville, TN.

Under the Willow TreeWe had photographed a wedding reception here a few years ago. Although they don’t hold ceremonies there, the venue is absolutely gorgeous. It is right up against the river, with beautiful willow trees nearby. When Jenna & Joe picked the location for their engagement session, I was excited and so looking forward to shooting there again.

We started out among the nice scenery around the property, taking in a few of the willow trees, benches, and grounds. They are such a fun and easy couple to work with – they really made my job easy!

Trash the DressJenna brought along an extra dress, specifically so we could do a “Trash the Dress” session. With both of them willing to jump in the river, we captured some really fun, romantic, and cool imagery! The image above is one of my favorites, and there are more in the slideshow below.

Between the gorgeous day, beautiful scenery, and being around Jenna & Joe, it just made for a wonderful evening photo shoot. :)

As the sun set, we captured a few more images with the two of them in the river.

Sunset by the riverThe sky just lit up for them! After they dried off a bit (and changed clothes), we went over to a large oak tree to finish up our session. As we were walking towards the tree, I saw the pier with the sun making its way towards the horizon. It was just one of those moments when everything was coming together.

I sent them down quickly, with just a few instructions (our normal: pay attention to each other, talk, kiss, touch foreheads…) and quickly photographed them as the sun set. I just love these types of romantic imagery! You can click on any of the above images to see larger versions.

It was a pleasure to meet and photograph these two! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next month! Here are a few more images from their engagement session:

Nicolette and Roger were a very fun couple! It was a gorgeous day, and Whitestone Country Inn made for a wonderful backdrop for their wedding day. The outdoor ceremony, followed by a carriage ride, and a very fun reception, plus a very playful couple, made this a very memorable day!
