This was such a wonderful wedding day! Lori and Eric came in recently and booked us for their intimate wedding. As far as they were concerned, they would be happy to just elope. But Lori’s 8-year-old son wanted to walk her down the aisle, so they planned a small wedding here in Knoxville.
The day was perfect – a beautiful sunny day (and with all the storms we’ve had recently, there couldn’t have been a more beautiful day!), close friends, and a couple who you could tell were mad about each other. You can’t help but smile when looking at the two of them together.
They were quite playful throughout our time with them. Everything was done within just a couple of hours. Even so, they gave me plenty of time to go around the property. We finished just after sunset, and captured some incredible color in the sky. Check out our Facebook gallery for more photos of their wedding day!
This was one wedding Leigh and I were looking forward to for a while. We had fun with Jenna & Joe during their engagement session, and knew they were going to have a fun wedding!
The Pavilion made for a nice location for their wedding day. The weather was absolutely gorgeous as well! With how strange and quickly changing the weather has been this summer, it was nice to have such a beautiful day for their wedding.
They met before the ceremony. We arranged for them to meet at the bridge crossing over the small stream area. We placed Joe on one side, then had Jenna come up to meet him. As usual, we made him wait a tiny bit, knowing she was right there behind him. We left them alone for a few minutes afterwards.
The ceremony was very nice. They wrote their own vows. You could easily see how much in love they are with each other throughout the ceremony.
It is couples like Jenna and Joe that affirm to us that we are in the right profession. Being around so much love for one another just means the world to us. They were fun, playful, loving, and full of smiles the entire day!
Nicolette and Roger were a very fun couple! It was a gorgeous day, and Whitestone Country Inn made for a wonderful backdrop for their wedding day. The outdoor ceremony, followed by a carriage ride, and a very fun reception, plus a very playful couple, made this a very memorable day!
It’s interesting to photograph some wedding. We’ve known Ashley and her family for at least 15 years. Our youngest daughter grew up with Ashley. They were in some of the same classes since elementary school, and went to brownies and girl scouts together. To have someone we’ve watched grow up and get married, it just takes us back.
Ashley and Ben are very nice couple. We had fun with them at their engagement session, and their wedding day was absolutely beautiful! It was amazing to see the faith they both carried within themselves, as well as the love they have for each other. It is just really nice to see such devotion in both of them. This carried on through their wonderful ceremony. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of their wedding.
Their wedding planner did an incredible jog with the decorations. Each table had it’s own theme, taking in different likes, interests, life history, and moments together. Coupled with photographs of the two of them all over the place, you got a sense of who these two people are, and how they have grown together. It was a really nice way to include the two of them into the reception is a way where their guests could share the beginning of their lives together.
That Saturday was a very hot, sunny day. It turned out to beautiful outside, but I’m glad most of the activities were all indoors. The great thing about it was Marble Slab Ice Cream was there. With several flavors and toppings, it was a very welcome treat. The line for ice cream went all the way around the reception hall. I don’t think the line ever slowed down throughout the entire reception! I can see this catching on more at summer weddings, like we saw with S’mores on cooler spring or autumn receptions.
After the reception, we headed over to the UT Arboretum just outside of Oak Ridge. It was a little bit of a blessing as a quick rain shower passed through just before we arrived. So, it wasn’t as hot as it had been just a short while earlier, yet the humidity was now up. Even so, we were able to capture some really wonderful imagery of just the two of them. The photo at the top of this post was from there, as well as a few more in the slideshow below. Giving the two of them a little time to be together, and being able to be a part of that – it is something that Leigh and I love to experience. As Ashley & Ben walk off holding hands, it bring Leigh and myself to holding hands while we ride home.
Meredith and Brian couldn’t have asked for a nicer day for their wedding. All week long, each day seemed to bring in different conditions, from the cold one day, warm, sunny or rainy the next. It rained the day before their wedding as well as the day after. Their wedding day was definitely a blessed day of sunshine and love.
We started with the two of the meeting before the ceremony. When we arrived, Brian was waiting at the windows by the altar. It was the perfect shot from the beginning. We let the two of them have their moment together before going outside for more photographs around the property.
The ceremony was simple, and beautiful, with an elegant reception afterward. At the end of the day, we captured a beautiful sunset silhouette (above), and some wonderful back-lit shots at the barn. You can see more images from their wedding below: Read More
Snowy winter days are rare here in East Tennessee. They are also unpredictable. January can be in the 60s, or absolutely freezing. For Sarah and Andrew’s wedding day, we were blessed with an absolutely beautiful, freezing, snowy winter day.
We has a lot of fun with their engagement session. We were hoping to play outdoors a little throughout the wedding day as well. The snow storm the night before did change our plans a little, but we still had a gorgeous day, and their wedding was absolutely beautiful!
One of the things we love to do, when couples are seeing each other before the ceremony, is make it special. We wanted this to be a memorable moment from their wedding day. So, we took advantage of the snowy day and took them (briefly) outdoors for their first moment together. The lightly falling snow, gorgeous bride, and snow-covered background made for a wonderful moment for the two of them!
The candle-lit ceremony was absolutely wonderful. Simple. Elegant. Everything just fit so well with the two of them.
Andrew is a pilot. He was flying off for their honeymoon together. It was fitting that their exit was through paper airplanes! Envelopes with folding directions were provided for all of the guests.
Before they left, we went around the country club and photographed a few more shots of them out in the snow. One of my favorites is the image at the top of this post.

I just love Autumn. The fall colors around the Smoky Mountains are absolutely beautiful! Depending on the year, the colors can be out throughout most of October, and even into November, like it was for Whitney & Chris’ wedding out at Ridge Valley Farms. The day couldn’t have been better for their outdoor wedding down at the gazebo. Heather with Simplicity Event Planners put together a wonderful event for them!
Everything was just gorgeous. From the decorations, the entertainment, and the entire day was spectacular. We got to play with them a little bit after the ceremony, taking in the autumn colors as well as the beautiful scenery around Ridge Valley Farms.
The Autumn colors were out in full force for Mary & Eric’s wedding day. Even though there was a slight chill to the air, their outdoor ceremony was absolutely beautiful! I just love it when I see grooms filled with emotion during the ceremony. From the moment he saw her, he was on the verge of tears. You could just tell how much she meant to him.
Their reception was held in the ballroom below. It was very elegant, intimate, and beautiful. The General Morgan Inn is a perfect location for Autumn weddings (and throughout the year as well!). It has become one of my favorite locations to photograph!
