Marble Slab at the Reception

Marble Slab Ice Cream
One of the neat things to see at Ashley & Ben’s wedding was Marble Slab Ice Cream bringing in their portable system. The line for ice cream went all the way around the reception hall. They had several flavors of ice cream, along with a nice selection of toppings to mix in.

With how hot this summer has been, I’m surprised I don’t see this show up more often! What a great idea as well! Below are some more images of Marble Slab’s setup. Read More

Fun Wedding Reception Decorations

Posted on June 9th, 2010 by Chris Hoopes under Clinton TN, Receptions, Weddings.

Reception Table Settings

Ashley and Ben had some very fun table decorations at their wedding reception! Their wedding planner did an incredible job of taking in a lot of their likes, personalities, and life experiences, putting them into unique and creative designs. Each table had a completely different theme. As you walked around the room, you were able to experience what they were like.

It really made for a fun and wonderful reception experience! Take a look below for more of the table designs. Read More

Whitney & Chris’ Wedding

I just love Autumn. The fall colors around the Smoky Mountains are absolutely beautiful! Depending on the year, the colors can be out throughout most of October, and even into November, like it was for Whitney & Chris’ wedding out at Ridge Valley Farms. The day couldn’t have been better for their outdoor wedding down at the gazebo. Heather with Simplicity Event Planners put together a wonderful event for them!

Everything was just gorgeous. From the decorations, the entertainment, and the entire day was spectacular. We got to play with them a little bit after the ceremony, taking in the autumn colors as well as the beautiful scenery around Ridge Valley Farms.

Mary & Eric’s October Wedding

The Autumn colors were out in full force for Mary & Eric’s wedding day. Even though there was a slight chill to the air, their outdoor ceremony was absolutely beautiful! I just love it when I see grooms filled with emotion during the ceremony. From the moment he saw her, he was on the verge of tears. You could just tell how much she meant to him.

Their reception was held in the ballroom below. It was very elegant, intimate, and beautiful. The General Morgan Inn is a perfect location for Autumn weddings (and throughout the year as well!). It has become one of my favorite locations to photograph!

It was a beautiful October day for Katherine & Scott’s wedding day at Whitestone Country Inn. They had a very elegant wedding ceremony in the chapel. They planned to meet before the wedding, so we set Scott up at the gazebo, with Katherine coming up from behind to meet him. After leaving them alone for a few minutes together, we took care of all the family formals before the ceremony.

They had probably one of the best receptions I’ve seen this summer. Boys Night Out got everyone up and dancing with their entertaining music. It was a real party! Check out the photos we posted on Facebook to see more!

Sunsphere

Anna & Billy @ the Sunsphere
Anna & Billy @ the Sunsphere

Saturday’s wedding reception was rather interesting. Anna & Billy had booked the Sunsphere for their reception. As they were finishing up our pre-ceremony photographs, they got word that the Sunsphere had a water line break and was flooded. Their reception was being moved to the Knoxville Convention Center (which is on the same property).

The ceremony went on without a hitch, and we captured some wonderful photographs. Even with the quick change to the reception plans, the reception was very nice. I have to give a big kudos to Sharon at the Sunsphere, All Occasions Catering, Southern Graces, and especially the Knoxville Convention Center for changing venues and pulling everything together in such short notice!

WBIR-TV had a camera crew there when we arrived at the convention center. Anna and Billy were interviewed (Leigh and I saw the story on the news when we got back home). You can read the news story here.

I’ll post more photos from Anna and Billy’s wedding soon. :)

Ashley & Warner

Posted on August 1st, 2008 by Chris Hoopes under Chris, Closing Shots, Couples, Knoxville TN, L&N Station, Leigh, Receptions, Weddings.

Ashley & Warner - July 19, 2008
Ashley & Warner – July 19, 2008

Ashley is an absolute sweetheart. Every time I have seen her, she always has a bright smile and a sparkle in her eyes. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of Ashley and Warner’s wedding day.

Their ceremony took place at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. They met before the ceremony in the sanctuary (I did torture Warner a little bit, not letting him turn around to see Ashley right away), but not too much. What I thought was a very nice touch to there ceremony was a row of candles off to one side of the altar. Each candle had the name of a family member who had passed on. Part of the processional was to have their spouce or family member light one of the candles. It was very touching to have this memorial as part of their wedding day.

The reception was very elegant. The L&N Station makes for a wonderful reception location. We actually photographed their closing shots before they entered into the reception, using the ironwork and staircases outside – it was absolutely beautiful.

There was a lot of emotion and love throughout the day. Leigh and I love to be part of such a wonderful celebration. I’ve posted a few more images from their wedding after the jump. Read More

Lindsey & Josh

Lindsey & Josh - May 17, 2008
Lindsey & Josh – May 17, 2008

We had a full day capturing Lindsey & Josh’s wedding. We started at the hair salon with Lindsey and her bridesmaids, then to her parents’ house where she got dressed.

They met before the ceremony, so we had arranged to have them meet in the garden behind the house. I love it when couples meet ahead of time. We can get all of the posed formal shots done before the ceremony while they are fresh, relaxed, and looking their best. It also means we can get them to the reception soon after the ceremony is over.

The ceremony was beautiful. The First Baptist Church in Sevierville is huge! We were able to photograph from many different angles and capture some wonderful images of their ceremony. One of my favorite images was when they lit their unity candle. Josh blew out the outside candles. I was able to get a photograph of his face lit up by the candle. We are always looking for special and unique shots during every ceremony, and I just knew this one was going to be a wonderful image.

They actually had two receptions. The first reception was held in the fellowship hall for the 300+ guests who attended the ceremony. They cut their cake (well…. one of the several cakes around the main table) and mingled with guests. Then it was off to a second smaller reception, which was a sit-down dinner for family and friends. Dinner, dancing, toasts, and exit were all a part of the second reception.

It was definitely a full day, filled with lots of love, emotion, and beautifulk imagery. Since there were so many activities throughout the day, I’ve included a few more images below. Check out the images after the jump. Read More
