We started off the year photographing Katie and Steven’s wedding. They are an absolutely wonderful couple. Their wedding was held at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church with the reception at the Gettysvue Country Club.

What I loved about them was how much you could tell about their love for each other, just from seeing the two of them together. Katie was always smiling whever she looked Steven’s way.

They were also very fun and allowed me to play with them a bit towards the end of the evening. With me just coming back from our wedding photographers convention (see my previous post), I was filled with creativity and just couldn’t wait to play. Katie and Steven were happy to oblige!

When looking for creative ideas for their closing shot, my off-camera light crossed over them and created a shadow near the archway. With a quick movement of my light, we captured the shot above.

Irene and Brett are a wonderful couple. Their wedding took place at All Saints Catholic Church with the reception at the Two Rivers Pavillion. I love the different influences that went into their ceremony, and into the men’s attire.

The Two Rivers Pavillion was a beautiful setting for their reception. Rain was threatening all day long. When we went out to the willow trees, we only had about ten minutes before the rain clouds started to arrive. The rain actually held off until just before the cake cutting. Luckily, it only lasted for about ten minutes.

A winter wedding. Decorations of candles and pine cones. The brides dress has snowflake sequines and a snowflake pattern to the veil. Bridesmaids are in brown and carrying white muffs. They even found mink stoles for the wedding party to wear. It was an absolutely beautiful winter setting.

The weather: 60+ degrees with a strong chance of rain in the morning. As Cassie said, “I didn’t plan on having a June wedding.”

Even with a warm January, it was a beautiful wedding. Cassie and Dennis met before the ceremony and had a few moments together before heading into the church. From a wonderful ceremony, trolley ride to the University Club, and lots of dancing, to small intimate moments between the two of them, and with family members, Leigh and I really enjoyed being a part of their day.

As I was going through Melissa & Logan’s wedding, this image just caught my eye. This was during the father/daughter dance. I have several images of them looking at each other, talking, smiling, crying (both in tears at different times). Every single image was just filled with emotion. Yet, this one just seemed to stand out. Maybe it’s because I know how emotional the two of them were. Maybe it’s because I can image myself holding on to my daughter as she is about to step out into her own married life – sometime in the distant future .
